We are still fighting.
Born in 1981, Matt Brown (42, USA) still lives up to his nickname of ‘immortal’.
On the 14th 안전놀이터(Korean time) at UFC on ABC (UFC on ABC) 4 held at the Charlotte Spectrum Center in the United States, Cote McGee was knocked out with a punch in 4 minutes and 9 seconds of the first round.
It was his 24th victory since his 2005 professional debut. In total, he accumulated 24 wins and 19 losses in 43 matches.
Brown is the same age as ‘Stun Gun’ Dong-hyeon Kim. It is also the ‘octagon motivation’ that entered the UFC in 2008.
In September 2008, at UFC 88, he faced Kim Dong-hyun, and after a fierce battle, he lost by decision 1-2.
Brown ran his heyday with seven consecutive wins from 2012 to 2014, but in July 2014, he fought for the welterweight title challenge against Robbie Lawler and then went downhill when he lost by decision.
I am no longer greedy for titles. Since 2017, I am enjoying my fighter life by fighting once or twice a year.
Being steady like a turtle, I approached an unexpected record. McGee’s KO win tied him with heavyweight Derrick Lewis for the most KOs in the UFC.
△ 1st place Derrick Lewis · Matt Brown (13 wins) △ 3rd place Vitor Belfort (12 wins) △ 4th place Anderson Silva · Anthony Johnson · Thiago Santos (11 wins) in order.
Brown laughed out loud when he received a $50,000 bonus for ‘Performance of the Night’.
As Brown writes down his great record, there is one fighter who has a spark in his heart. Conor McGregor (34, Ireland), who will be making a comeback against Michael Chandler at the end of this year, is wriggling.
Following Brown’s win, McGregor announced on Twitter that he would break the UFC record for most KOs.
“I’m 34 years old and have 8 KO wins in the UFC. I’m going to set a record in this category,” he said.
McGregor has a record of 22 wins and 6 losses in 28 fights. Among them, 19 wins were by KO.
In the UFC, he knocked out Marcus Brimadge, Diego Brandao, Dustin Poirier, Dennis Seaver, Chad Mendes, Jose Aldo, Eddy Alvarez, and Donald Cerrone in blow fights.
McGregor needs at least 5 KOs to chase Brown and Lewis. The biggest challenge for McGregor, who has not been able to taste his hands since January 2020, is to raise the sense of his prime.
Brown welcomed McGregor’s record challenge and hoped to stick with him if possible. He replied, “I will fight you for the record.”
