‘Korean Monster’ Hyun-jin Ryu (36-Toronto Blue Jays) is finally set to make his big league return, and his gumshoe Alec Manoa (25) is ready to follow suit.

Ryu Hyun-jin is finally out of the long injury tunnel and on the verge of a big league return. After a successful rehabilitation pitch, he is now on the verge of reaching his dream stage.

He has made four rehab appearances. Ryu threw 42 pitches and topped out at 88 mph (141.6 km/h) in the minor league Rookie League on the 5th, followed by 37 pitches and 88.4 mph (142.3 km/h) in Low Single-A on the 10th, and 66 pitches and 89.8 mph (144.5 km/h) in Triple-A on the 16th. He made a start for the Syracuse Mets of Triple-A New York on the 22nd, allowing two runs on three hits (one homer) and one walk with five strikeouts in six innings. He threw 85 pitches and reached a fastball of 146.1 mph.

In 18 innings of live action, he gave up three home runs and walked just one. With his pitch count and velocity up, Ryu was one step closer to returning to the big leagues.

He will join the Los Angeles Dodgers on the 25th. The timing of his return to the big leagues hasn’t been confirmed, but the team wants to check his condition.
