Before the upcoming Asian Games, Korean softball players will be able to preview the strengths of various countries at home.

The Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) announced on the 29th, “From April 2nd to April 8th, the 2023 Women’s Softball Asia Cup will be held at Songdo LNG Sports Town in Incheon.”

The 2023 Women’s Softball Asia Cup is스포츠토토 Asia’s most prestigious softball international competition hosted by the Asian Softball Federation (SA) and is held every four years. KBSA succeeded in hosting the tournament in Korea for the first time in August last year.

About 150 players from 9 countries including Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, India and Hong Kong will participate.

First of all, the preliminaries will be held as a full league of 9 teams. After that, the finals will be a ranking match for the 5th to 9th places as a result of the preliminary round, and the 1st to 4th places will go through a tournament to determine the final ranking.

This competition is a prelude to the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China in September. As all major participating countries in the Asian Games have participated, it is a place where you can check your strength in advance and check the performance of the Korean national team in advance.

The goal of the Korean national team is to finish in third place. To this end, they conducted joint training with Yamanashi Gakuin University for 20 days in Japan last February and played several practice matches with local universities and club teams to maximize their sense of actual combat.

Also, following last year, the contract was renewed with Scott Cranford, an American coach, and strengthening training is being conducted in Korea with a focus on improving the technical skills of the players.

KBSA President Lee Jong-hoon said, “It is a new feeling to hold the Asia Cup, an Asian softball festival, in Korea. I hope that this tournament will serve as a signal for the development of softball in Korea.”
