Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Cornerback |
| Matt's Notes on Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie |
| Another talented Cromartie. I slept on the first one with his injury history, but I'm going to try not and make myself look like an idiot with that one again. I didn't get to catch much Tennessee State this year as I'm not a Dish guy, but I have some notes...
Cromartie looked very good at the Senior Bowl. You always wonder how a small school guy will react to being on the big stage with the big players. Can they look like they belong? Cromartie did more then that, looking like one of the best players on the field. He did very well in coverage, showing a compact backpedal, fluid hips through his turn and some speed. He had a very nice interception in the game and showed that he could be physical with a couple of nice hits. I thought the same thing as Tommy did watching him, "this kid should just take the "State" off of Tennessee". After that and watching what little highlights I could come up with I thought he was a first round player. Cromartie went to the Combine and not only did well, but flourished. He showed very, very quick feet and drills and looked very athletic. He ran a 4.33 40-yard dash, had a 38.5-inch vertical, did 17 reps and just looked great in drills. In my mind he went from a late 1st rounder to a guy that could go in the Top 10 perhaps. He may be from a small school, but he has big-time potential. |
| Tommy's Notes on Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie |
| Has a track background. That speed shows up on the football field. Has excellent speed. Has pretty good size. He's a bit slender, but should fill out over time. DRC has NFL athletic ability. His corner skills need some work. He's a bit high in his backpedal. He needs to be quicker in the transition from backpedal to breaking on the ball. Tackling is a bit of a concern. Guys with track backgrounds are not always the most physical players. Dominique went to the Senior Bowl and showed that he is a top flight prospect. He covered good receivers. He could have been from Tennessee just as easily as Tennessee State. He played very well in the Senior Bowl game. He had a pick, covered well, and also tackled well. DRC showed that he is a legit 1st round prospect.
SUMMARY Dominique had a good week of practice at the Senior Bowl. He played even better in the game. He went to the Combine and did even better. This kid is passing every test. He is fast and athletic. He plays the ball well. He's got great feet and looks good in games or workouts. Could go in the top ten. At the least will be a top 20 pick. Has outstanding potential. |
