Matt's Notes on Ted Ginn Jr.

Tommy's Notes on Ted Ginn Jr.
Only a Junior. Explosive speed. The fastest player I've ever seen in college football. Fast enough to run by any CB. Can be a hands catcher. Made impressive over the shoulder TD catch vs TX. Beat press coverage by Ross. Faked outside, then cut in and took off. Once behind the CB, it was pitch and catch. Struggled for part of his Soph year. Only had 4 TD receptions. Inconsistent hands. He will make some really tough catches, but also drop balls that were catchable. Had a long TD vs UM. Did a good job of adjusting to the ball. Just outran the DBs to get open initially. Good stiff arm. Elusive in space. The problem with Ted is that he catches short passes or bombs. You don't see him run a lot of intermediate routes. Really hard to judge him as a route runner. Caught 110 passes for 13 TDs the last two years combined.

Great RS. Returned the opening KO in the Natl Title game for a TD. Got by one tackler and then just outran everyone else. Fast enough to pull away from anyone. Fielded the onside kick that UM tried at the end of the game. Had 6 KOR TDs and 2 PR TDs for his career. Averaged 14 yds a PR and 27 yds a KOR for his career.

SUMMARY

1st Rd player. Has explosive speed and big play ability. Still recovering from a foot injury in the Natl Title game so he hasn't worked out. Doesn't really matter to me. His athleticism is obvious. Will have immediate impact as a RS, but may take him a year or two to become a starting WR.
