Matt's Notes on Marshawn Lynch

Tommy's Notes on Marshawn Lynch
Only a Junior. Great all around RB. Can run, block, and catch. Best receiver amongst the RB prospects. Fast. Quick and elusive. Runs downfield routes on some plays. Can catch the ball downfield. Splits out at times. Very good runner. Has excellent vision. Cuts well. Has some power. Isn’t just a finesse runner. Will break some arm tackles. Has a good stiff arm. Doesn’t go down on first contact. Has okay speed, but lacks breakaway speed. Very light on his feet and has excellent body control. Makes spectaculars cuts/moves at times. Catches the ball smoothly and easily. Will lower his shoulder and fight for yards when that is the best option on the play. Has the ability to bounce runs outside, but only does so when there is an opening. Effective at pass pro, when he stays in (which isn’t a lot). Caught 68 passes.

Has some KOR experience. Averaged 23 yds a KOR. No TDs.

SUMMARY

Outstanding RB prospect. Will be of tremendous value to a team that likes to throw the ball to their RBs. Some people have questioned whether Lynch can handle the load of being "the guy" in the NFL since he split carries at Cal. I think that is nonsense. He averaged 20 touches a game the last two years. He'll handle the NFL load fine. Should go top 20.
