Tommy's Notes on Dan Bazuin
High motor edge rusher. Very productive. Led the nation in TFLs in 2005. Great motor. Hustles to the ball. Very good burst. Gets off the ball quickly. Good awareness. Gets off blocks. Good year in '06, but not as good as Junior season. Had a variety of issues. Works to get to the football. Beat Marten of BC with an inside move for a TFL on a run play. Active. Bazuin had an excellent game in the Motor City Bowl. As always, he was relentless in pursuit of the QB. MTSU's OL simply had no answer for his athleticism and motor. He posted 8 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He'd have better numbers, but hurt his leg in the middle of the game. Looked serious for a moment, but he got up and ran off the field. He came back later. Dan wasn't as effective, but was still running around and being disruptive. Injuries have affected his play all year long. He might have played well enough to be a Day One pick.

SUMMARY

Good pass rusher. Good, but not great athlete. Makes plays on effort more than anything. Should go in the 3rd Rd. Has chance to be an outstanding backup DE and could develop into starting caliber player.
