Game is Important For These Guys

LB Zach Brown — He had a terrific week in coverage, but the question coming in was his tackling. He needs to play the run well.

LB Lavonte David — Worked with coaches on shedding blocks this week. Now he gets a chance to show what he learned. Good cover guy and tackler. Just needs to show he can deal with big OL.

LB Audie Cole — Limited athlete needs to come up big on game day.

RB Chris Polk — One of my favorite runners in all of CFB, but he failed to shine this week. Polk is at his best in a game, where he is very hard to tackle and can be a punishing runner. Looked soft in Mobile, but that was practice. A strong game will ease any concerns.

QB Russell Wilson — He’s just under 5’11 and that is always going to be the headline unless he changes that with some big plays. Had a solid week, but wasn’t so good that he blew you away. A strong game could really help him.

OL — The 1-on-1 drills are set up for DL to win. The OL suffer all week long. Game time is different. The OL now have a chance to get revenge and kick some butt. I’m sure a few guys are looking to redeem themselves.

    Tommy,
I noticed your notes form 1/20 on Cordy Glenn werent all that positive. But on the 28th you have him as one of the players who impressed.
I wanted to ask you what you thought of him now. Currently I am pondering a trade down scenario maybe around 24 to target Glenn as our RT, picking up an extra second round pick in the process upping our total to 3 second rounders.
I feel that Glenn has the versatility Reid likes in his OL draft picks, and athleticism for Washburn. He moves very well imo, and yet he is 6’6′ 348. You may not be as high on him as I, but he reminds me of Peters (obviously a long way to go for him to prove that, but just saying I think he has that potential).
I think those 2 would make quite a pair of bookends, and allow us to move Herremans back to LG. Also saving us money on re-signing Mathis as a starter, and getting younger all at once.
So what are your thoughts after senior bowl week?

  2. Tommy Lawlor says:

Glenn would have been huge target with Castillo as OL coach.

Howard Mudd will have zero interest in Glenn. Doesn’t fit at all. You need to look for athletic OL. Find guys that move well laterally and can get out in space on draws/screens.

Glenn wasn’t impressive early on, but got better each day in Mobile. Kudos to him for improving and finishing up so well.
